Principal's Corner
Welcome to a new semester! I hope you all enjoyed the holidays. Next week we will be taking the kids that have a 90% or higher in DOJO to a movie at the Damm Theater. This is a reward for going above the expectations in their behavior. This IS NOT a punishment for those that didn't make the 90%. Those kids will be staying back, but able to do fun things during this time as well unless they have missing assignments to finish. They will have to do that first. We hope that students can see that when you go above and beyond there are benefits. There will be another celebration at the end of this semester as well. We also want those kids that have achieved the 90% to know that their efforts are noticed. There are still celebrations in the classroom monthly for those that are at 80% or higher. With those that are lower than 60%, I have conferenced with them, and we've come up with a contract of improvement.
We will be focusing on the Character Trait of Trustworthiness for December and what that looks like. Mrs. Stone will also be doing a lesson with students during their library time on Trustworthiness. People will trust a person who has a reputation of being hones, reliable, and responsible. Dishonesty can easily tarnish that reputation, such that others consider you untrustworthy. Being considered trustworthy provides benefits from the way people deal with you, as well as your own self-esteem. Trustworthiness involves four major qualities: integrity, honesty, promise-keeping, and loyalty.
I''m really looking forward to see what this second semester brings us!
Mrs. Budd
